Happy Wheels iOS In Progress…
By Jason on September 30, 2014
Happy Wheels for iOS has been in development for quite some time now and the results are looking really good. On my iPhone 4S it's running fairly consistently at 60 FPS which results in buttery smooth physics and responsive gameplay. The onscreen controls feel pretty natural and are noninvasive. I personally think Happy Wheels has never looked better than on the iPad’s Retina display
Here are some details, although they are subject to change.
Characters and levels
We’re going to launch with 6 characters: Wheelchair guy, Segway Guy, Irresponsible Dad, Effective Shopper, Moped Couple, and Pogostick Man. We’ll add more characters in time. Each character will have its own ‘chapter’ containing 10-15 levels made specifically for that character. And there will be an additional set of levels where you can choose any available character. This means that you will be able play Happy Wheels anywhere without a web connection.
There will be a simplified level editor where users can create their own levels. Initially it won’t be as robust as the online editor, but all of the current hazards, various items, and shapes (not polygons) can be added and modified. The levels can be saved locally on each device or shared between devices via email or Airdrop. Later we’ll add a public level browser similar to what is available in the browser version.
The onscreen controls are simplified as well. There are buttons for forward/reverse, lean left/right, special, and eject. We’re trying to keep the layout consistent between characters, but in some cases, the number of buttons or layout may vary.
Again, these are subject to change. Our build target is iOS 6 and up.
- iPhone 4S, 5, 5C, 5S, 6, 6+. And although we advise against it, it should install on the iPhone 4, but there is a noticeable drop in framerate.
- iPod Touch 5th generation. Like the iPhone 4, it should install on an iPod Touch 4th gen, but it will probably run slowly so we advise against it.
- iPad 2, 3, 4, Air.
- iPad Mini 1, 2
We thought about this a lot and considered several different revenue streams. In the end we decided that we would simply sell the game for $2.99. However, for the first couple days, the game will be on sale for $1.99. We realize paying for Happy Wheels is a touchy subject for some users, so share your comments below.
Unfortunately we can only say that we’re getting close. Each week we decide to add more to bring the experience closer to the browser version. We’re at the point where we need to develop levels and then do beta testing. There is a faint light at the end of the tunnel. We appreciate your patience. We may post a video soon.
We tested an Android port and the results were pretty promising. We’ll make more progress on it after the iOS version is done. At this point, it’s too early to talking about an Android release date.

the ipod 6 can have this update
By Jermster on November 23, 2015
1) If a player already has Happy Wheels IOS downloaded on ther phone, will the update need to be payed for to upgrade the versions?
2) How can we become a beta tester? I really feel the game has something unique to it that virtually no other game has. Therefore I want to make it grow. If you guys need me to contact you about this, I'm all for it.
Thank you so much for answering my questions!

By vladimirson12345 on August 24, 2015
I say make the game free but have in game add. not only will that make people who want it free happy but you will also make money on the game. and then have in app purchases that remove ads for the people who are willing to pay for it to be add free. This way you make everyone happy. people who want it free is happy, people who will pay are happy, and you guys are happy. plus you get the money for people who want to remove the add.

1. Make a lite version with some levels :P
2. If you make it free some weeks or months after its available im willing to wait
3. Some day make it like the computer (online levels) and that you can play the same levels in ios and pc
4. I understand that you make the game paid
5. Ill still play the computer one but play this one when im not on the computer if i have it
By Maisy700 on August 16, 2015
Why are so many people begging for it to be free? They have to make money somehow! And it's a lot harder to make an app game then a web game.$2.99 is a great price, and I'll defiantly buy it!

Why does it have to be 2.99 in the appstore for just a little and then 1.99 it should be free because its not fair that its free to play in pc.Because of the price everybody is gonna be playing happy wheels on their computer and not on ios because of the price
By squidythegamer on July 03, 2015
I won't buy it I'll just play on my computer then spend money for a free pc game make it free and have in app purchases for the new characters and more levels that would be a good idea I think
By RadioactiveDnny on June 29, 2015
And puffin web browser is nice and all, but its happy wheels support is minimal.
By RadioactiveDnny on June 29, 2015
Actually, sale for 2 weeks free, then $2.99. Or $1.99. Preferably $1.99. When people really love it, and can't resist not having it, take the price up from $1.99 to something else. They will want it, and you will get some moolah. And the people are happy because they get the epik game ever! On IoS!
I em da boss :)
By RadioactiveDnny on June 29, 2015
Free, but when will it be out? I want it now, man. I'm tired of no happy wheels on ios.
By Totalbeast2007 on June 28, 2015
It will help out a lot so people who really want to play it will be able to
By Noah1024 on June 27, 2015
Please make it free
By Snorfuloops1 on June 22, 2015
I would be happy to spend anywhere from free to $5. It's a great game and I would be happy to support all those who have been behind the magic.
By ihasllama on June 20, 2015
As a fellow game doveloper, I would know that it cost a lot of money to make an ios game. I think you should make the game at least $5. All these people complaining about the price should go and do some chores and earn some money! If they cant pay $2.99 then they shouldnt even have internet! BTW I love your game! I just hope you end up with what you deserve.
By krichy21 on June 19, 2015
Dont you dare make happy wheels paid or you will turn dirty and money-hungry like jagex!
By ZacTDP MLG on June 15, 2015
MAKE IT FREE LIKE ON THE COMPUTER
By Radioactivebear on June 14, 2015
Make the game free but with in app purchases like the level editor 79c and the online sharing 79c but playing the online levels would be free (all of them) And you get half the characters for free and the rest for 79c altogether or the whole game pack for $2 or $1.50 the week the game comes out
By 321Battle on June 08, 2015
Free on phone plz

Another thing, a paid version would be better because babies like to use their parent's phones and they might spam the level editor with rate five levels and blue shapes and whote background levels
By PEW JACKPLIER on May 19, 2015
Make sure to add some new settings and effect.
By andymegaboy on May 15, 2015
I think that the game should be free, but in order to be able to make levels and use the level browser you should have to pay a fee. This way idiots there would be less of the rate 5 to get out of the box and more of the creative levels. Also instead of having the full roster in the free version you can only have half. You can make it more like the happy wheels demo and that way people will be able to play it for free and buy the full version when they get the money. Another thing that you could do is maybe allow players in the free version to make levels, but just give them a certain amount, like maybe 3 levels and after that have them purchase the paid version with unlimited levels. With these ideas you can make revenue, and have the game be free. Don't listen to all the kids who's mommies won't give them iTunes cards.

By Brofister101 on April 17, 2015
It's not on the App Store ???????? I was really looking forward to playing it????
By Mikki_Moo on April 12, 2015
Personally, the 1.99$ in the first couple days and later on the 2.99$ sounds like a great Idea.
Though, you might aswell make it free with an additional In-App purchase to, for example, remove ads/unlock more levels.
Yet, the first choice seems to be the most acceptable one...judging by the high popularity of this game and considering the time, effort and money it takes to develop an iOS application.
Especially due to the high popularity of Happy Wheel's, sales will enormously get boosted, expecting the most sales in the first few weeks.
Thus it might be more profitable to start with 2.99$ at the start already.
Making it free is an option, and the favoured option by the community...of course, who doesn't like free stuff...but it is more of a bad option...especially if there would be no In-App Purchases. If you are going for profit, that is.
By goofballhero on April 10, 2015
Jim, I'd happily pay merely $2.00 for such an entertaining game. You guys have worked so hard on it that I think not paying you for it wouldn't be fair at all. Mainly little kids yelling 'MAKE IT FREE!' in the comments because they don't have the password to their mommy's credit card.
By Rabbit head thing on April 06, 2015
Make it free for the first week, then price it at 1.99$ later.
By pacboy90 on April 04, 2015
make it free then have $1.99/$2.99 for no ads
By CaroFDoom on April 02, 2015
make the 1.99/2.99 for no ads.
